Course Description:

This course presents an approach to Performance Management (PM) in a school context. It is intended for school leaders who wish to develop PM in their schools. The course incorporates a review of the history of PM, exploring some of the difficulties faced by teachers and school leaders who engage with this element of their professional lives. There is a suggestion for what a PM scheme could look like in a school and tools to help introduce and manage such a scheme. The course is based on an extensive research study undertaken. The course materials have been tested with teachers and used successfully.

  • Explore the common challenges faced by teachers and school leaders in implementing performance management systems effectively.
  • Acquire strategies and tools to introduce and manage a performance management scheme in a school environment, ensuring its successful implementation.

Resources & Assessment:

  • The course provides a range of resources to support learners and facilitate the application of acquired knowledge.
  • The course features ungraded, in-course quiz questions designed to assess comprehension of the material. Learners will have the flexibility to attempt these questions multiple times until they arrive at the correct answer. Although the review quizzes are optional, it is strongly advised that participants aim to identify the correct answers to confirm their grasp of the course content.
  • The course incorporates a comprehensive final assessment, known as the ‘Course Test’, designed to evaluate participants’ understanding of the essential concepts covered throughout the course. Upon successfully passing this test, participants will be awarded a course certificate.
